Wrinkle free injections

Wrinkle free injections are currently one of the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatments. They are a simple, quick and effective method of treating fine lines.
The product used is a prescription medicine and so needs to be administered by fully trained medical personnel. The injections work by blocking the nerve impulses supplying the muscles, leading to relaxation of the muscles.
The result is a softening of facial lines and wrinkles, giving a more youthful, fresher appearance.
Areas most suitable for injecting are
The muscles used in frowning (vertical lines between the eyebrows)
The muscles used in raising the eyebrows (horizontal forehead lines)
The muscles used in laughing (laughter lines, crows feet by the eyes)
The injections are not generally used in the lower half of the face as it can risk changing the muscles used in smiling. Dermal fillers are more appropriate for this area (see below)
The overall effect can be as subtle as you wish. Facial movement and expression is retained and lines and wrinkles are smoothed away.
The practitioner will discuss your objectives and expectations during your initial consultation.

There is a very strong safety profile. After the treatment you may notice some redness around the injection sites. This should settle within an hour. Some people may develop a small amount of bruising.
Is it painful?
You will experience a fine scratching sensation as the product is injected. However we use very fine needles and so no local anaesthetic is required.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure is quick and takes approximately 15 minutes. It consists of a few small injections with a very fine needle.
How long does it take to work?
The product usually takes between 3 and 7 days to work. It varies for everyone. The maximum effect is seen at 14 days. You will be offered a complimentary follow-up appointment at around 2 weeks after your treatment.
How long does it last?
The length of time the product works for again varies between individuals. The first treatment normally lasts around 3-4 months. If you continue to have wrinkle-free injections, the effects will start to last longer, up to 6 months.
Are there any medical conditions which mean that I couldn't have it done?
Yes, but very few. Certain antibiotics will interfere with the product so its best not to have the treatment whilst you are on these. There are also some medical conditions that for example affect the muscles of the face, which would mean that wrinkle free injections were not suitable.

Our practitioners will take a full medical history and discuss any medical concerns with you at the time of your consultation.
Pregnancy and breast feeding
Wrinkle free injections are not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Excessive sweating - Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive sweating. Sweating is a natural occurrence and is regulated by the sympathetic nervous system. In approximately 1% of the population this system works too well and the result is excessive sweating. This can cause embarrassment for people suffering with this condition. People will often say they only feel comfortable in white or black tops so that those around them will not notice their excess perspiration.
Go Smooth Beauty can treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)

At Go Smooth Beauty we offer a simple and effective treatment for excess sweating under the armpits. The treatment consists of a series of small, relatively pain free injections into the armpit. The solution injected blocks the activity of the sweat glands and stops excessive perspiration. Treatment can be effective for up to 6 months.

Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are used to fill in deep folds and wrinkles. Fillers are a gel made from hyaluronic acid which is a natural polymer present in the skin. The product comes in different thicknesses so finer product can be used for more delicate areas e.g. lips.
Areas most suitable for treating are
Folds between the nose and mouth
Deep frown lines (vertical forehead lines)
Creases around the lips
Lip enhancement
The practitioner will discuss your objectives and expectations during your initial consultation.

Side effect profile
Dermal fillers have a very good safety profile. The fillers are made from hyaluronic acid which is a natural polymer present in the skin. Complex hyaluronic acid is in a stabilised form which makes it last longer. The product is biodegradable which means that over time the product is naturally broken down by the body. Minor side effects include redness, swelling and discomfort at the injection site. This typically settles spontaneously over a few days.
Is it painful?
The product is injected under the skin and can be a little uncomfortable. For this reason we use a topical local anaesthetic cream prior to the treatment. For lip enhancement we offer the choice of a topical cream or local anaesthetic injections (similar to injections at the dentist).
How long does the procedure take?
We allow 1 hour for the procedure. This is because the topical local anaesthetic takes up to 30 minutes to have its maximum effect.
How long does it take to work?
The effect is immediate. However initially there will be some redness and swelling which should settle over 24 hours.
How long does it last?
The advantage of fillers is that they last between 8 and 12 months.
Are there any medical conditions which mean that I couldn't have it done?
Yes but very few. Certain antibiotics will interfere with the product so its best not to have the treatment whilst you are on these. If you suffer from severe allergies or anaphylaxis then dermal fillers would not be a suitable treatment for you.

Our practitioners will take a full medical history and discuss any medical concerns with you at the time of your consultation.

Glycolic Acid Peels

Glycolic peels offer a wonderful boost to the skin leaving it looking brighter, smoother and softer. The procedure can help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and can also help in reducing the appearance of scar tissue. Whilst resurfacing the skin, glycolic acid gently lifts away the damaged dead glue like layers of the skin that are characteristic of many skin conditions.
The glycolic peels used at Go Smooth Beauty offer a great way to boost the skin without wounding or burning to the skin. They are not absorbed into the body and will not cause systemic side effects as may happen with other types of peels. The peel may be done over lunchtime and make-up can be applied straight after the procedure so there is no need for any down time following a peel.
The glycolic peel can be a stand-alone treatment; however for best results a course of six peels is recommended. This will give the effect of a medium to deep peel without the need for down time. In addition to the course of six peels you may choose to also have a maintenance peel once a month to help maintain the effect of the course of peels and enhance the effect of the Jan Marini home care products.
Go Smooth Beauty uses Jan Marini Skin Research Glycolic peels

Jan Marini Skin Research Glycolic peels are available in two strengths, 40% and 70%. Advanced peels are also available once the client has been successfully treated with the glycolic acid peels. The advanced peel enables a more rapid result to be achieved. These are available in the form of:

Age intervention resurfacing facial
Factor A plus mask resurfacing treatment
Skin lightening with resurfacing treatment

A two-week home care programme is required prior to any peel, which acclimatises the skin to glycolic acid. The preparation includes products within the Jan Marini range, and the skin will look notably brighter and fresher following this preparation.

The course of six peels usually consists of two 40%, two 70% and two advanced peels. Once again your particular treatment plan would be prescribed following a skin consultation.

At Go Smooth Beauty we also offer a lighter facial peel which is a perfect alternative to the Glycolic acid peels. These do not require skin preparation and are a great one off treatment. The facial peel utilises products such as the papaya mask, C Esta mask and Retinol mask. The "lighter" facial peel exfoliates the skin by digesting dead and diseased protein material without harming healthy tissue. This treatment is a relaxing experience and will improve photo-damaged skin, discolouration and acne lesions. It will also help brighten the skin and minimise enlarged pore size. The "lighter" facial peel will not harm sensitive or irritated skin and is excellent for skin rejuvenation.

Removal of Thread Veins - Microsclerotherapy

Thread veins or spider veins are broken vessels, which lie just under the skin. They may differ in appearance, size and colour varying from fine pink lines to deep blue/purple branches or clusters that give the appearance of a bruised/red area. About 50% of the population will develop thread veins on their legs at some point during their lifetime. If left untreated thread veins will cause no harm. However they can be unsightly and now there is a safe and effective treatment.
The gold standard treatment for thread veins on the legs is Microsclerotherapy

Microsclerotherapy involves injection of a solution very superficially into the veins. The solution causes the veins to swell and stick together. A healing response is triggered and the veins gradually fade away over a period of several weeks. A very fine needle is used and most people find the procedure painless.

The effect of treatment varies for each person. It is usually necessary to have between 3 - 4 treatments based at 6 - 12 weekly intervals to get the desired effect. Each treatment will last approximately 30 minutes. Compression hosiery is applied immediately after treatment and should be worn continuously for 72 hours then every day for a further 7 days. Compression is an essential part of the treatment as it will reduce complications and aid the healing process of the veins.

Immediately after treatment there may be some itching and redness, which should resolve in a couple of hours. However normal activities may be resumed after treatment. It is normal that legs will look worse before they get better with some bruising and improvements may not be seen before 6 - 12 weeks. Resting the legs up is advised as much as possible for the first 2 weeks together with avoidance of high impact exercise.
